Today, I was on the train as it was about to pull into Penn station here in NYC and an old big man suddenly falls on top of me and we fall to the floor. I didn't know what hit me. It happened so fast. I noticed people were more concerned about the old man than me.
It took me a moment to check if I was ok as I started to feel my knee a little bruised. A man held out his hand to help me get up. For a split moment as I was on the floor and saw the old man I wanted to help him get up but I thought " let me see if I am ok". I was more traumatized by the incident than hurt. So I picked up my bags and as I walked to work, I tapped on my body using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
Tapping at the Karate Chop Point, I said "Even though I feel trauma, didn't know what happened to me and suddenly I was pushed on the floor , my knee has a little pain, I'm ok". "Even though it happened so fast and I am in shock, I'm ok anyway." "Even though I felt this heavy body on top of mine and didn't know what hit me, thank god I'm ok and hope he's ok."
Tapping on:
Eyebrow: this trauma I feel in my body
Side of Eye: this heavy body fell on top of me
Under eye: I'm still in shock
Under Nose: I bruised my knee
Chin: I didn't know what happen to me
Collarbone: it all happened so fast
Under Arm: Thank god it wasn't worse
Top of Head: Thank god I'm ok and hope he's ok
This is just a little excerpt of what I did to get out of the trauma I was feeling. My knee felt better as I got to work. If you ever find yourself in a sudden trauma learn EFT to acknowledge how you feel and you will be more in control in the moment of your body and your mind.
In deep appreciation for EFT and Gary Craig
